A pair of Arizona Diamondbacks executives, assistant general manager Peter Woodfork and director of player personnel Jerry DiPoto, are among the candidates to become the next general manager of the Mariners, according to several reports.

Josh Byrnes general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks hired both Woodfork and DiPoto when he came on. He declined to say whether the pair were candidates, and spoke generally about his baseball operations staff.

"We have a very talented front office," Byrnes said. "So to the extent openings occur in the industry, having their names come up is something that we will have to deal with."
